Kanstul 66 EEb tuba

-SOLD-

Kanstul model 66 EEb tuba, 4-top-pistons, bright silver-plated, serial # 45087.  The legacy of the York “monster” Eb tuba lives on in this modern re-creation of the very popular American Eb tuba. This instrument was part of a private collection, and has seen very little use. Now, freshly-serviced and silver-polished, the instrument is essentially a new instrument waiting to be owned and used. The tonal quality is that of a Grand Rapids York, with excellent response through several octaves and very good modern pitch. I have had a customer buy one of these, then bring me his contrabass tuba within the next two weeks to sell it for him, saying that the contrabass tuba was no longer needed, as the Kanstul EEb can do everything. A very versatile bass tuba that can do the work of a contrabass tuba too.  With original Cronkhite gig bag…………….$4,950.00

Jupiter JCB 584 CC tuba

Jupiter JCB-584 CC tuba, 4-pistons/5th rotor, Serial Number K04858, lacquered.  Approximately 10 years old, with only minor scratches, this instrument is still basically mechanically a new instrument.  The valves and slides are scarcely broken-in, and with reasonable care this 5-valve CC tuba should last for many years.  This model is offered by Jupiter with two 5th valve slide lengths, one being a flat-1st valve length, the other a 2-whole-step length, such as older Mirafones had.  The original mouthpiece, in excellent condition, is included, as well as the original hard case with wheels.   A lot of instrument at a reasonable price…………………………………………………………………………………….$4,250.00

Meinl-Weston F-Tuba

Meinl-Weston 45SLP F-Tuba, serial number 92259.   Upon play-testing this instrument, I found it to feel more comfortable and have a sweeter response than what I expected from a large-bore piston F-tuba.  I think that the exquisite response would allow this instrument to blend well in an intimate musical setting, as well as being capable of holding it’s own in a large orchestra.  The instrument is freshly-serviced, well-regulated, and dent-free.  There are only minor cosmetic imperfections in the finish of this very capable player.  The tuba comes with a nice Altieri gig bag, complete with the piston pad………………….$6,795.00

E. Rittershausen, Berlin Wooden Flute

E. Rittershausen, Berlin SW wooden flute, serial number 1466, with left hand crutch and original hard case, circa 1895.  I have detected no cracks in the instrument, which is in very fine mechanical condition, rare for such an old instrument.  The pads and regulation are good, and even this non-flute-playing technician can readily play low C on this instrument!
The tone is really rich and dark, a unique and beautiful sound.  The case has sustained some damage, but still positively latches and does not fall open.  An exceptional offering for the flute player or collector………………………………………………………………………..$975.00

Getzen CB-50 Canadian Brass Tuba

Getzen CB-50 tuba serial number CB50-30015, 4/4 CC tuba, convertible to use as BBb, lacquered, with Cronkhite black leather gig bag, restored.  This instrument is unique in that when I restored this, I incorporated the same improvements that I use in production of my own tubas.  Every joint has been soldered to exceed any other manufacturer’s standards and the leadpipe has been re-tapered to York dimensions, so this CB-50 has better intonation and response than the original instruments.  The tonal character is live and full, with sufficient edge and plenty of dark core to the sound.  I have taken this instrument out to a rehearsal and was very, very pleased with it.  This tuba has a low-maintenance baked-on epoxy lacquer finish.  The cosmetic appearance is not perfect, as that was not the predominant aim, but rather it is one of the best-playing instruments available, and looks attractive enough while doing so.  The Cronkhite gig bag was one of the last leather bags made in California and is like-new. This is the perfect outfit for either the working tuba professional or the serious student……………………………………………………………$9,250.00
